What does the term Registrar Lock mean? Print

This is a security setting that prevents your domain name from being transferred between registrars. If you are attempting to transfer a domain name to or away from MYHOST.IE, the domain status must be listed
as "Active" or "OK" for the transfer to be accepted by the Global Registry.

You can check domain status for .com and .net domains at http://registrar.verisign-grs.com/whois/ and conducting a whois search for the domain. Please check domain status for EPP domains, (.org, .cc, .info, .biz, .us, .com.cn, .net.cn,.org.cn, .cn and .in) using the current registrar of record's whois services.

Note regarding .org domains:

Due to a registry restriction (not eNom, but the Public Interest Registry; http://www.pir.org), .org domains have a 60-day transfer restriction. If a .org domain is transferred between registrars, the Public Interest Registry does not allow transfer of the domain for 60-days from the date the transfer was complete. The domain status will read "Client Transfer Prohibited".

Additional information around domain status and transfers:

  • The registrar lock does NOT affect the ability of your domain to resolve to your website or email functionality; it only protects from unauthorised transfers between registrars.
  • In addition to "registrar-lock", domains that are in "registrar-hold","redemption period" or "pending delete" status are not transferable.

Please contact the current registrar for assistance with these domains.
